The good news is not all blue light is bad for you. Research has shown that high energy blue light can help memory and cognitive function, boost energy and improve your mood. Some people suffer from season affective disorder, which is a type of depression that results from a change in the seasons. This is common in countries where there is long and dark winters. There are lamps available which help treat the condition and they omit a lot of blue light. Blue light is also very important in regulating the circadian rhythm. This is the internal process that regulates the sleep cycle and repeats every 24 hours. Exposure to blue light during the day can help maintain a healthy circadian rhythm. Be aware that exposure to blue light at night can disrupt sleep leading to an increase in tiredness the next day.
