How to Reduce Digital Eye Strain
If you are staring at a screen for hours this can cause eye strain. Your eyes can also become dry as a result of decreased blinking associated with computer use.
We have put together a few tips to help reduce eye strain:
- Take regular breaks from your screen and use the "20-20-20" rule. This means every 20 minutes look at an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
- If your eyes begin to feel dry use artificial tears to refresh them, these are also known as eye drops.
- Anyone who wears contact lenses should give their eyes a break by wearing their prescription glasses.
- You should adjust your room lighting and increase the contrast on your screen.
- When sitting at a computer you should make sure your chair is positioned 25 inches away from the screen. The screen should be positioned to ensure you are gazing downwards.
- Of course you should wear a pair of our blue light blocking glasses to protect your eyes at all times.
